I was raised by this great man's brother Fred, and was influenced at an early age by Charles’s leadership and values in public service. This family impacted my life deeply, and those seeds eventually bore fruit in me as I became a Chief myself. I am sure this would have never have happened had I not been raised in the nurture of this proud and selfless family. Charles was truly a great man who will be missed in many areas. I am saddened to hear of your father's passing. There was such a history between our families, that I will miss him deeply. Know that I will have you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Runkels, I am sorry to hear of your loss. This brother was a great man. I spent a lot of time in Masonic work, and a lot of mornings at Hardees with Charles and Nelda before moving to Branson. He was one of the finest men I have known.
