Not sure what to say?

Major General Sams was an awesome commander and friend. It's hard to realize he's been gone for so long!

I knew judge Sams and would enjoy speaking to his wife Connie. My number is 503-639-4076

My family and I will miss Chuck and Connie and there extended family at our Christmas Tree Farm where they U cut their Christmas trees for a number of years. As an attorney I had a long time friendship in and out of court with Judge Sams. He was tops in every way. Marva and my condolences are extended to Connie and the family. Phil Ringle

My special friend, Lt. Col.retired, Stanley P. Richardson, Jr., might know Chuck. Stan ,too, was a fighter pilot in WWII & Korea. Dorothy Zimerman, Emmanuel Presb., W.Linn.

Chuck was a wise steward of the planet long before it was the fashionable thing to do: reduce, reuse, recycle.
the West Linn Garden Club salutes you.

Goodnight, Sweet Prince....
from Shakespeare, a literary connection to Chuck from all the books he devoured to all the plays at Ashland he faithfully attended. Greatly missed and revered.
Jane and Jeff Sercombe, West Linn

My heartfelt sympathies to you, Coni, and your entire family upon the death of our dear friend, Chuck. He had such a wonderful smile and was always, always such a gentleman whenever we met. Frank often said what a pleasure it was to appear in his courtroom because he always knew he would get a fair ruling. I will be out of town on the date of Chuck's memorial, but you will be in my prayers and thoughts. Take care, Coni. It is so difficult during these times. I won't say time heals...

I am so saddened to hear of General Sams' passing. I became an ORANG officer while he was ORANG Commander and was very pleased when he returned to the position for a second tour. For the remainder of my 38 year ANG career, General Sams was the standard by which I judged every other ORANG general officer I worked for. I send my very best wishes to the family.

Michael Nugent, Col, Ret, ORANG

Chuck Sams was a husband, a father, a pilot, a lawyer, a judge and a Major General. But, most of all he was a gentleman, a guy with a quick smile and a twinkle in his eye. He had a no nonsense approach in his courtroom while at the same time allowing you the leeway to try your case. I enjoyed every appearance I ever made in his court. While I did not always get what I went in for, I left feeling that I had been heard and treated in a fair and respectful manner. Clackamas County has been...
