Read MoreWith no newspaper, I did not learn of Chuck's death until last night. He was a wonderful man and indeed had a twinkle in his eye every time I saw him. I met him in 1960 just after moving to Ann Arbor and was a faithful customer for all 57 of those years. To Judy, Linda and his family please know you have my sincerest sympathy.

My sincere condolences to all the Schlanderer family. Charlie was a friend from childhood when we lived around the corner from each other on Rose and Golden Avenue. It is wonderful that his family can continue his legacy. His example is a good one to follow.
