Not sure what to say?

I played football for Chuck back when he was the head football coach at Moline High School. Coach saw something in me that I didn´t see in myself. He was instrumental in teaching me confidence and how to desire more from the game of football. I suffered a severe football injury in the 1st game of my junior year and after my 4.5 hour surgery he was at the hospital till after 11pm to make sure I was ok. He was like a 2nd father to me in someways and I will always remember his ability to show...

I just heard about Mr. Schrader's passing today & wanted to share my deepest condolences to family & friends. The world lost a great person. I was lucky enough to play under coach from 90-93, & really enjoyed his honesty, intelligence, & passion for the game. He also taught me a few new swear words I never knew existed :)

He was always went out of his way to lift people up, & brought out the best in us. I’ll never forget when he gave me his KFC dinner on a road trip when we ran short...

Please accept my deepest sympathies, Mrs. Schrader, Dave, Jill, and Linda. Mr. Schrader (Coach) was a positive influence on my life, as good educators and coaches are. I recall memorable motivational speeches in the locker room and wise advice on life in homeroom and in health class. Those words have stayed with me over the years and I occasionaly look back upon them and have repeated a few to my children, so it was with a sad heart that I heard the news today (courtesy of Bob Barry,...

Today I sadly learned of the passing of Mr. Schrader through a distant friend. Mr. Schrader was the head coach for Ottawa High School varsity football team while his son, David, and I played football there together. We remained close friends throughout our tenure at OHS and the University of Illinois, but somehow lost touch with David and “Crew II” along the way. Although time and geography have grown distant, my fond memories have not. Please accept my deepest of sympathies and I hope that...

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to play football under Coach Shrader while attending St. Ambrose University. I will always remember Coach as someone who put being a better person in front of being a better football player. I was truly fortunate to have the opportunity to play under such a special man, and was blessed to have him as a role model. Coach Shrader touched the lives of many youg men while at St. Ambrose and he will truly be missed.

Barbara: We met only a few times, but as young boys growing up in Champaign, IL Chuck and I were the best of friends. We never stayed in regular touch, but the memories are as vivid now as back then! My most poignant memory of Chuck (and there were many!) was catching the touchdown pass from Chuck that tied the football game with Danville, IL HS - one of the many memorable moments that eventually helped CHS win the Big 12 Conference football championship in 1954.

You and family are in...

Barbara....Years have gone by and you might struggle with remembering the name. I am Jerry Leggett's widow. Jerry thought so much of Chuck and enjoyed the years they coached together at Hinsdale South. I have been out of town and just recently learned of Chuck's passing. Please know you and your family are in my thoughts!

I was very fortunate to both play for and coach with Coach Shrader at SAU. I will remember him as a coach with great class and a desire to shape young men's lives. He was a positive role model and was one of my biggest influences to get into coaching. For that I will always hold dear my playing and coaching relationship with Coach Shrader. Spending time with him at his Cabin in Wisconsin fishing will be wonderful memories I will hold onto. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
