I was saddened when I heard that Charles had passed away. I worked for him at Lackland AFB many years ago and was blessed to be part of his team that closed Brooks. He was like the little pink bunny—going to the very end of those days! I will remember him for the many times he shared his wisdom, personnel knowledge and, of course, his humor with us. He will be missed by all the people who knew him. My heart goes out to you, Judy, and to all of his family. Charles was kindness itself!

Charles "Charlie" Shinn was one of the finest leaders and examples I ever had the priviledge to work with in the Air Force. When Brooks closed, it was a traumatic time for people, but he and his team showed nothing but compassion and genuine caring for those he helped transition with their lives.
