Charles Shoup

Mr. Shoup was my favorite teacher at Madison Junior High. I tried to take as many classes as I could from him. In 9th grade (1977-78) my dad joined the faculty at Madison and he and Mr. Shoup became friends which made me happy. I ran into him a few times when I got older but never saw him again after I moved to California more than 30 years ago. By the way my dad Daniel died this past August at 86. Rest in Peace Mr. Shoup

I was a student teacher in the fall of 1975 and was fortunate to work with your father. He was a gifted teacher to his students at Madison Middle School and great teacher to train under. He was very knowledgeable about history and made it come alive to the class. I could listen to his presentations all day! The most important lesson I remember he taught me was to be present in the classroom and leave any personal issues at home. It was great advice and has served me well.

I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Shoup was one of my favorite teachers at Madison. He really had a way of connecting with kids at their most difficult!

I'm sorry for your loss. I had Mr. Shoup for global geography my freshman year of high school many years ago and I remember his no nonsense classroom management and high expectations. He was the type of teacher who demanded a lot and expected students to rise to the challenge. We did our best, out of respect and because he made learning interesting. I feel lucky to have been one of his students.

Mr. Shoup was my favorite social studies teacher at Madison Jr.High. He was a very caring individual who helped many of us through adolescence. My condolences to his family.
