We lived next to Chuck and Judy and family in SLC and Mercer Island, WA. Chuck was the best neighbor we´ve ever had. Just not enough time with their whole family. RIP

Chuck was a close buddy and mentor during high school and influenced me to chose his college with its innovative curriculum. He urged me to follow a career in investigative medicine as we shared the love of broad activities, nature and confidant exploration. Judy made a great choice for such an adventurer.

I will always remember Chuck as an extraordinary man with a quiet sense of humor who lived the life we should all aspire towards. He was intelligent, caring, loyal; dedicated to both his work and his family. I feel deeply sad.

I remember well the weekends we spent with the Smiths (and others) in Teasdale. What I remember best was Chuck's deep love of the place and his intimate knowledge of every physical facet of that environment. Once, on the return from a short walk from the house, he stopped and pointed down to a set of tracks crossing ours and simply said, "it looks like a mountain lion crossed our path after we made it." No excitement, no dramatics, no trepidation - just simple observation. Then I understood...

Dear Judy and Family, You and Chuck have been such a part of our lives for over 25 years.. working on many projects.. We will truly miss his friendship..We send our sincerest sympathy and love.
