Charles C. Townsend, age 64, of Cabot died Monday, November 14, 2016 at his home. He was born September 15, 1952 in Lake Village to Calvin Beard and Velma Ruth Bufkin Townsend. He attended Antioch Freewill Baptist Church in Russellville and Eudora Baptist Church in Eudora. He was a 1970 graduate of Eudora High School and a 1975 graduate of Arkansas Tech. He worked for USPS as Postmaster at Norphlet, from 1985-1988; Kensett, from 1988-1990; DeWitt, from 1990-1993; and Paris, from 1993-2011 where he retired. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and watching his sons play sports. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his infant son, Christopher Charles Townsend. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Freeman Townsend; a daughter and son-in-law, Cris and Brian Catlett of Cabot; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Matthew Charles Townsend of Fayetteville and Andrew Calvin and Tranisa Townsend of Conway; a brother and sister-in-law, Houston Lee and Carol Townsend of Russellville; and four grandchildren, Abby Grace Catlett, Lily Faith Catlett, Emerie Cate Townsend and Carter Calvin Townsend. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Shinn Chapel, with the Rev. Fred Goates officiating. Burial will be in Phoenix Cemetery and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00– 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home. You will be missed my friend. You were an awesome Postmaster, mentor, and friend. Your ability to remain calm under less than perfect circumstances was always amazing.
