Dr. Charles "Chuck" Vedder

Dr Vedder was my Sociology professor at Wichita State University. I enjoyed his classes and we became friends. I really liked him. Please accept my condolences.

He was my favorite teacher at Stetson. I still think about what he taught me 40 years ago

I have often wondered about Charlie, as we called him in senior high school in Marshfield Wisconsin. Primarily because we both took academic routes through college and taught at the university level. It is only through this obituary that I learned that he ended his career at Stetson. And from the obituary comments, was well valved by his students. I don't recall if he ever attended our reunions, but not one that I attended.

Life can be odd at times. I was working at my desk and saw a Stetson News update arrive in my in-box. Thoughts turned to fond memories of my time at Stetson and who my favorite professor was. Thinking of Dr. Vedder, I decided to Google his name and sadly now only learned of his passing. While I was not a sociology major, his impact on me was profound. Chuck even allowed me, through special dispensation, to take a 500-level sociology class, normally reserved for majors, for fun! I sill...

I graduated with a BBA from Stetson in 1991 but added a Sociologu minor for one reason...Dr. Vedder. He was fantastic and I learned a great deal from him. Condolences from Toronto, Canada.

I had Dr. Vedder for three classes in th 1970's. I was soooooo sorry to hear of his passing.

My deepest sympathy to the Vedder family. I was a classmate of Charlie, we graduated from Marshfield Sr. High in 1961. I found out about the passing of Charlie from his brother. Again, so sorry for your loss.
