Everyday after leaving Williams School, I had to stop at Mr. Charlie's to buy candy with the change from my lunch money. The store was ALWAYS packed, but I don't ever remember Mr. Charlie raising his voice to a single kid. He waited for us to put our change on the counter and very kindly and patiently waited on every child. I don't think I would've had the patience to sit and count out 20 apple chews, 10 banana chews, 7 grape chews, and 3 watermelon chews, but Mr. Charlie was always such a...

To all of you remembering the Late Great Charlie Whiting: I am his proud grandson and would like to take the opportunity to express my gratitude for the warm thoughts that you have expressed about this wonderful human being. Charlie was a class act and will forever live on in my heart!

I DID NOT KNOW MR. CHARLIE VERY LONG LIKE MANY.BUT I ENJOYED THE LITTLE TIME I DID HAVE WITH HIM.HE WAS A GREAT MAN OF GOD.VERY SOFT HEARTED,KIND,UNDERSTANDING,AND RESPECTED.HE WILL BE MISSED. I was sadden to hear about the passing of Charlie. He will be very much missed. I always looked forward to coming home and going to the corner store to talk to with Charlie. He had alot of storys to tell you . I love the way he never forgot a thing about you not matter how long it had been since he saw you. He was very much loved. My prayers are with you.
