Charles was a class act- no doubt about it. From the very moment I met him in 2010, his smile always lit up the room. He was so incredibly intelligent, yet so down to earth. He was proud of his science, his lifelong work, but just as much so he was proud of his family. The world is a better place with Charles having been in it, and we will all miss his light and his gentle soul. Charles had many good friends because he was a good friend. And I was happy to be a friend of his. He was a lovely host and presided over many wonderful dinners. I will miss him.
