You and Charles were already planning a future together and I was just beginning my research career having already chosen my lifelong partner, Robert S. Masters. Charles was a class act- no doubt about it. From the very moment I met him in 2010, his smile always lit up the room. He was so incredibly intelligent, yet so down to earth. He was proud of his science, his lifelong work, but just as much so he was proud of his family. The world is a better place with Charles having been in it, and we will all miss his light and his gentle soul.
