Not sure what to say?

A memorable teacher and man. God bless you, Charles Winans.

Class of 65

One of the most memorable teachers I encountered at the Prep.

Charlie,

You were wonderful and special. Thank you. And John M. McGowan's death notice is very splendid.

Gerry O'Brien
Loyola, 1968

"Charlie" Winans was a master teacher among master teachers. His presence filled the classroom. At play practice it filled the theater. Whether it was at Prep, or Brooklyn College, or Upstate or Henri's Restaurant, he "civilized" the young beasts of Brooklyn. He gave us so much. Love of Literature. Love of History. Love of learning. Charlie you were the greatest friend
anybody could ever have. We will next drink together in heaven.

Mr. Winans/Charlie,

You truly "made a difference" and were special. Thank you so much.

Gerry O'Brien, Loyola 1968

Rest in peace, Mr. Winans. Thank you for all your encouragement. My little parts in your wonderful plays were such a part of my growth.
Godspeed!

Charlie! You finally made it! I'm sure you and the Lord are sharing a bottle right now as I write this. Thanks for everything. I'm a teacher today because of you. All my love, and, of course, cheers.
