I performed in "Sunday in the Park with George" many years ago in Rochester, New York. Charlie played George and he was incredible. I am deeply saddened by a kind and gentle man's life cut short by cancer. Charlie, you will always be loved and remembered.

Just discovered this! (Need to keep up with newspaper when out of town.) His love and devotion to the music, his singers and his family were most evident in his concerts. He left a fine legacy! We miss him, but think of him in a celestial choir now. Sympathy to his loved ones. May your grieving go gently.

Miriam, So sorry to hear about Charles. He was a wonderful guy. We met as apprentices at Glimmerglass Opera and then worked again together at the Virgina Opera where he was wonderful as Tybalt. My sincerest sympathies to all who knew and loved him.

I am glad that I enjoyed the opportunity to sing for Charlie as a member of the chancel choir at Grace Lutheran Church. He really new how to encourage his choir members to perform to their potential, and the results were beautiful. He ranks as one of the best choir directors for whom I have sung, and I am glad that this one of the qualities (in addition to his kindness) for which I shall remember him.
