Not sure what to say?

A very generous person and worldwide traveler who led a very interesting life! Still missed even after all these years!...and Dell, too!

Wow! Has it been 10 years?! I think of Charlie often - like whenever I go to Costco... and when swimming ♀ in the pool! I miss him still very much! He was the most generous man and like a second father to me! R.I.P.

My Condolences go out to Uncle Chuck's family. I am proud to have known him and enjoyed reading all the kind words and memories about him. I am one of the 4 Hammerstroem girls and my Dad, Bill, was Chuck's childhood friend. He has always been a part of our lives and kept in touch even after our father died in 1974. When we were younger I loved seeing a box arrive at Christmas time from Uncle Chuck with presents for us! And whenever I saw the Chicago skyline I bragged that MY Uncle lived in...

I am feeling very sad for Leonard, Eddie and Del having lost a very compassionate and caring man. I have many pleasant memories of Chuck (the likes of get togethers, parties, good food and many, many laughs. His 80th party was such a joy for him, but I know he was in great discomfort. It was the last time I saw Chuck and I will forever hold him in my daily thoughts and prayers.

Beverly Rosen

No one had a greater Laugh and such an awsome relish for Life. Chuck shared his happiness with all of us, and made sure to pass and share with others his unique concern for people. We never had so much fun and joy on a ski trip with anyone as we did in 1972 or 1973 joining him on an adventure through Luxenbourg to Kitzbuhel. Everytime We see a Ski Mountain, We'll remember Chuck and His Great Smile of Joy for Life.

Chuck came into my life over 50 yrs ago when I married his childhood buddy Bill. Since that time he had become a very important part of my family's life and especially after Bill died. He took over as "uncle" Chuck and attended graduations and weddings of my 4 daughters. I will miss him when I go back to Chicago for visits - it will never be the same. Also, the dim sum won't taste as great.
I am so glad though that he and Del did get to visit us in Maine.
He was one of a kind...

When Del called on Tuesday followed by calls from Georgie Corbett and Pam Corbett Clark, I thought I had lost a friend. I was on my way to see him my advisor and "patron" saint. I was crushed. No more and no less than any who knew him.
He has been a major part of my life since Georgie and I rolled into Chicago 40+ years ago to find his basement apartment rest stop. His annotated guided tour through Chicago was a wonderful eye opener.
There was always an invite coming for this...

I see Chuck standing in the driveway in Eagle River, Wisconsin; shirtless, catching the available sunshine on a cloudy day.

I hear him telling the story about moving that machining center into Wabash Av., laughing every time he told that story. The vendor promised it would fit. It didn’t. They had to break open a wall to move it in, and sealed the wall back up.

I sit in a restaurant in Chinatown with Chuck having Dim Sum. I can’t do it justice. I simply can’t eat that...

Charlie left an indelible mark on my life. He was one of those 'larger than life' charactors! I have admired him for over 35 years since we first met. He was instrumental in getting me started in the motion picture equipment business. We soon became good friends. I cherish the memories of his enormous appetite for good food, laughter, and good nature! My Daughters and I will miss him.
Rest in peace my friend! Our sympathy goes out to Delphine, Len, and Eddie. Bless you all.
