Not sure what to say?

Charlie's daughter, Katie Butt, has written Charlie's Way, a wonderful memoir of Charlie's early life in Shanghai, China, his escape to the West; his All America exploits in soccer and swimming at Springfield College and coaching career. Charlie's Way is available at the Bowdoin College Bookstore.

Although a never swam for him, he had a great influence on me as both a swimmer and later as a coach. He took great care of the swimmers from weston that I sent to Bowdoin. always upbeat and smiling!

Still Miss seeing your Happy Face Dear , Always had a smile for everyone .Never met a nicer Man than you Dear Friend .

Still miss that Wonderful Smile Dear Friend..

You Are Still Missed !!! Such A Dear Man .

Still think about Charlie a lot . I am confident that he would have been an anchor and a great source of wisdom especially during these crazy times. You continue to be missed by many.

Charlie was one of the best athletes I have known as well as having an outstanding character. His laughter when making a rare error playing tennis was infectious. He will be missed.

Offering my condolences. May Almighty God and your treasured memories bring you peace, comfort, and strength to endure. (Psalm 147:3)

It was a privilege to play for Charlie's first soccer team at Bowdoin and a bigger privilege to become his friend in later years! To sit with him at a Bowdoin soccer match was to learn the game from the inside out...Just a wonderful man who will be sorely missed.
