Charlie Horton, age 78, of Bismarck, died Thursday, September 22, 2011. He was born on January 31, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Charles Ople Lee Horton and Anna Marie Andres Horton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Darleen Mueller; and his brother-in-law, Ron Ellerbusch. Charlie was a member of the Bismarck United Methodist Church where he played a leadership role in many areas. He served as a lay speaker and was active in the Thursday Bible Study, Bismarck Circle of Prayer and the Noahs of Ark Emmaus Community. Before his retirement, he was a lumber salesman for Weyerhaeuser and Bean Lumber Company. He is survived by his wife, Trecea Horton of Bismarck; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charlie and Kim Horton of Corcoran, Minnesota and Eddie and Holly Ramsey of Benton; his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Mike Mitchell of Naples, Florida; three grandchildren, Charlie Horton, Audrey Ramsey and Wesley Ramsey; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Jim Nevins of Jacksonville, Illinois, Marilyn and William Burke of Hot Springs Village, Marie and George Hupert of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sharon and John Pahde of St. Louis, Missouri, Peggy Ellerbusch of Laurie, Missouri and Ken Mueller of Laurie, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, September 25, 2011 in the Bismarck United Methodist Church with Rev. Heather Clawitter officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Pallbearers will be Chris Mueller, Matt Pahde, Mark Ellerbusch, Roger Barnes, Derek Reis, Tim Burroughs and Gary Burroughs. Honorary pallbearers will be Bismarck United Methodist Church Men and Thursday Bible Study Group. Memorials may be made to the Bismarck United Methodist Church Parsonage Fund, PO Box 100, Bismarck, Arkansas 71929. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
