Charlie Daniel Phillips II, born on January 12, 1982 to Charlie and Lois Phillips of Houston, Texas passed from this earth on March 8, 2024. Affectionately known as Danny until his father’s passing, Charlie was born and raised in Houston, Texas. As a child Charlie loved nothing more than listening to his dad and uncles play the guitar and sing Randy Travis songs. During the summers Charlie was excited to head to Louisiana and spend countless hours with his extended family, especially his Uncle June.
As a teenager Charlie began what would turn out to be a life of service to his community and family, by joining the Volunteer Fire Department (even against his mother’s better judgement), and his love of adrenaline was born. As a young man Charlie followed in is fathers footsteps as an iron worker in the commercial construction industry.
In 2002, Charlie fathered the first love of his life, his daughter Haley. He left the big city to raise her in the quite town of Huntsville, Texas while pursuing a decade long career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Charlie enjoyed spending his weekends atop a bareback horse at the local rodeos. It wasn’t long after he decided that rodeo was a young man’s sport then he bought his first boat, and he and Haley learned the difference between fishing and catching. Charlie took great joy in teaching Haley how to clean her own fish, shoot her first gun, and drive the boat. If you spent 5 minutes talking with Charlie you instantly knew how proud he was to have Haley as his daughter.
In 2022, Charlie, while making his living as a truck driver, married the second love of his life Christie. Together they enjoyed spending time riding motorcycles, having backyard BBQs with friends and family, and exploring Charlie’s newfound culinary skills. They lived each day for the moments that take your breath away, as “Nothing lasts forever”, but together they knew they had found a special magic when they found each other.
When Charlie wasn’t working, you could find him in a boat on the lake, in a deer stand, or entertaining around the BBQ pit. Charlie and Christie spent countless hours with the third love of his life, riding his motorcycle with his “brothers from another mother,” the “Punishers LEMC”, in which he was honored to serve as the Vice President of the Cut N Shoot chapter.
You were only a stranger to Charlie until he knew your name, then you were treated like family.
Charlie was welcomed into heaven by his father, maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents, aunts and uncles, and his best friend Kyle. Charlie is survived by his loving mother Lois Phillips, daughter Haley Phillips, wife Christie Phillips, stepson Trey Black and daughter Brinnen, and stepdaughter Karli Black.
Memorial Motorcycle ride to honor Charlie will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 departing 21 Woodlodge Drive, Huntsville Texas 77320 at approximately 2:00 pm with everyone invited to attend. A gathering of friends and family will take place at approximately 3:30 pm (upon return of the riders) for anyone wishing to honor Charlie to attend.
