was born on April 14, 1921 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was the fourth of seven children borne to the late Mr. and Mrs. Rufus (Fannie) Townsend, Senior. He made his transition on Sunday, January 21, 2018. He leaves to mourn his passing: four sons, three daughters, eighteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchilden and two great, great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Smith & Gaston Southside Chapel, 102 - 6th Avenue S.W., with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.

I remember your smile. I remember you always telling me stories and providing me with wisdom as a young child. You told me to enjoy my youth, respect my elders, aim high for achievement, and never believe a limit set by someone else is as far as I can go for my dreams in life.
