May 8, 1949 – Nov 14, 2019 (Age 70)
Charlie Earl Wilson, a native of Prichard, Alabama transitioned into eternal life on Thursday, November 14,2019 surrounded by his family at the home of his daughter in Hoover, Alabama. He was born on May 8, 1949 to the union of Julius and Rosezena Wilson.
In June 1968 after completing high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served a tour of duty in Vietnam. After returning from the Air Force, he began working at the Corp of Engineers and later was a postman for the U.S. Postal Service; where he affectionately became known as “Mailman”. He became an entrepreneur and opened a car dealership and tax office that he operated.
He was a member of Holy Assembly Apostolic Church in Grand Bay, AL where he served as Deacon and Superintendent of Sunday School.
Buster, Pops, Charlie Earl, were all names he was called, by those closest to him. He was known to be there for anyone at any time, doing what he could to lend a helping hand. He was the one you knew you could call and get results. He was always the go-to guy in the neighborhood, starting at a very young age. We jokingly referred to him as “The Mayor of Prichard” because of his dedication to the people of that city. Charlie was also known for being a smart and giving man with a great sense of humor. He had a unique ability to make light of a situation just to put you at ease. His family extended far beyond bloodlines. Often accepting his daughter’s friends as his adopted daughters. The family he married into, were never considered “in-laws”; he always said he gained a mom, dad, four brothers and nine sisters. Developing and maintaining strong relationships defined Charlie’s personality. He always made it known that his family was first and foremost after God.
Charlie was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, mentor and friend. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gloria Wilson. Three daughters, Ursula Armbrester of Raleigh, NC, Stacy Wilson, Kimberly (Jamie) Gray both of Hoover, AL. Six grandchildren, Nadia Armbrester, Ravyn Armbrester, Lauryn Armbrester, Joshua Armbrester, Daniel Gray and Makenzie Gray; four sisters, Lucille Singleton of Anchorage, AK, Marie Wilson of Los Angeles, CA, Mary (Johnny ) Evans, Gloria Wyatt, and Patricia Wilson all of Mobile, AL; one foster sister,
Carolyn Harris of Mobile, AL; foster brothers Devan Robinson of Mobile, AL and Benjamin Gilmer of Marietta, GA; a host of nieces and nephews, one devoted nephew, James Wilson. He is also survived by four brothers-in-law and nine sisters-in-law; a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Charlie or Buster (as I liked to call you once I found out), I was so fortunate to have you as a part of my life so many reasons. 1. For treating me like I was one of your own daughters. 2. For giving me a taste of what I was missing since my father was passed away. 3. For giving me the feeling that you felt a since of security because your daughter and I was together at college.
We will definitely miss you here on Earth, but we're so lucky to have an Angel like you watching over...
