Weinstein Died Wednesday evening at age 96. She was a vital, loving, bustling, five-foot-tall (maybe) member of The Greatest Generation, women's division. And she remained a redhead to the end. Born in 1920 when women were just granted the vote, she was the unstoppable middle child of Celia and David Weinstein. She grew up in Brookline during the Depression. She was graduated from Brookline High School where she met her husband Mike. They remained joined at the hip and the heart from then until his death in 2014. Charlotte followed Mike as he trained in the Air Force, spent the war working, waiting and worrying until he returned home. They were an extraordinary couple who lived together, worked together in the children's clothing business, and made their home in Brookline a center of love and joy for over 70 years. Charlotte made Thanksgiving dinner for 25 out of a closet-sized kitchen. She collected rubber bands by the dozens, curating them on the nearest door knob, and saved plastic containers beyond measure. She also created a rock garden out of nothing, and more than anything she managed to make everyone feel welcome in her home and her life. When Charlotte opened the door, she made you feel as if you were a birthday present. She was the glue of her extended family. She was some package. Charlotte leaves us loving and bereft of her energy and affection. She leaves a son, David, a granddaughter Tracy, two nephews, David and Adam Weinstein along with their spouses Kim Barnum and Rodrick Dial, two nieces Ellen Goodman and her husband Bob Levey, Judy Molinsky and her husband Steve. She leaves as well great-nieces Katie Goodman, Julie Kay, Jacqueline Kay, Jen DeCristoforo, great nephews Andy and Eric Molinsky, their spouses and their children as well, every one of whom loved and felt warmed by her presence. A graveside funeral will be held Sunday at noon at the Temple Israel Cemetery, 492 North Avenue, Wakefield, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to Newbridge on the Charles, Staff Appreciation Fund, 7000 Great Meadow Road, Dedham, MA 02026.
