Charlotte Irene Bodie of Phenix City, Alabama died on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Hospice facility in Columbus, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 27, 2019 in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, Georgia with Pastor Grant Parker officiating. Interment to follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home on Macon Road.

Irene was born on June 18, 1942 in Thionville, France to the late Marcel and Eugenie Unterneer. In 1964, while working on a military installation in Germany, she met and married an US Army soldier (Wayne Dobson) who was stationed there at the time. During her marriage to Mr. Dobson, she had two sons, David and Danial. After being in the states a few years, she became an American Citizen. She attended cosmetology school in Columbus, Georgia and graduated in 1979. Upon graduating she worked at Gayfers Beauty Salon as a Master Artisan Stylist for 19 years. During that period, in 1985, she and Wayne were divorced. A few years later she met David Bodie at a Christmas dance and they became dance partners. Two years later she and David were married.

She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Columbus, Georgia and later Epworth United Methodist Church in Phenix City, Alabama.

She is survived by her husband, David N. Bodie of Phenix City, Alabama; son, Danial A. Dobson of Niceville, Flordia; daughter-in-law Dallys Dobson of Niceville, Florida; Grandsons, Aiden Dobson of Greenville, SC and Ian Aguilar of Niceville, Floridia; two stepdaughters: Patricia A. Bodie of Cusetta, Alabama and Judy Lynn Bodie of Phenix City, Alabama; one stepson, David W. Bodie of Guntersville, Alabama; eight step grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters and one brother: Simone Drygas of France; Michelin Monet of France; and Maurice Unterner of France.

Irene was an outgoing and loving person who made friends easily with everyone she met. Upon her arrival in America, she fell in love with it and the American people. She will be sorely missed by her family and the many friends she made over the years.
