Charlotte Rae Newton

Charlotte had a tremendous impact on my life! We taught school together, but our friendship went beyond the classroom. We were "The Polar Bear Club", and our adventures meant so much to me. We did share a "near death experience", at least it felt like it at the time. The Polar Bears took a canoe trip that was supposed to be a slow trip floating down a river in a canoe to see the flora and fauna. It had rained a lot and the river was moving fast and Charlotte and I got caught in a strainer....
