Tempe, Arizona
Cherié Marie (Turgeon) Blackledge, 47, of Chandler, AZ passed away on April 13, 2008. She was at home, surrounded by family and pets, after a brief battle with liver and kidney failure. She was born in Fitchburg, MA on May 3, 1960. Cherié was a dynamic, kind, and motivated person who had a positive affect on the lives of people who knew her. Her biggest source of pride, and focus of her most concern, was her children, Jacob, 18, and Leah, 16. They were undeniably the center of her world. She would always try to accommodate their wants and needs, occasionally at the expense of great personal sacrifice. Cherié was many things in her life - a waitress, medical assistant, physical therapy technician, massage therapist, and most recently a manager of Curves for Women franchise. She was married to her husband, Andy, for the past seven years. Although Cherié had spent the last 30 years of her life in Arizona, she spoke fondly of growing up in Fitchburg. Cherié's most enjoyable and relaxing times were on the beaches in San Diego, New Hampshire, Aruba, Jamaica, Hawaii, and Mexican beaches of Cancún and Rocky Point. Cherié was preceded in death by her father, Leon Turgeon. She is survived by her husband, Andy, her children Jacob and Leah White; their father, Tom White of Chandler, AZ; parents Pauline and Charles Hauler of Fitchburg; mother-in-law Betsy Blackledge of Mesa, AZ; siblings Peter & (Ann) Turgeon of Clifton, MA; David & (Sandra) Turgeon of Texas; Sandra & (David) French of Fitchburg; Thomas Turgeon of Fitchburg; Linda & (Michael) Brousseau of Fitchburg; Robert & (Tina) Hauler of Virginia; brother-in-law Mark & (Elizabeth) Blackledge, six nieces and seven nephews [Aunt Cherié had the best cookies!], dogs Buster and Daisy, and cats Ginger and Popcorn. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 22 at Tempe Mortuary, 405 E. Southern Ave., Tempe, AZ 85282, from 5-8pm. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, April 23 at Arizona Community Church, 9325 S. Rural Rd., Tempe, AZ 85284 at 10am, with a reception immediately following. Interment will be handled by the family. Flowers are welcome, and can be delivered in care of the mortuary. Donations in Cherie's name can also be directed to the American Liver Association (www.liverfoundation.org), the National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org), and Hospice of the Valley (www.hov.org). Banner Desert Hospital (www.bannerhealth.org) also provided excellent care. They have a free pet therapy program to complement their other unique services. Cherié's guest book can be signed at www.legacy.com.

Dear Andy, Jacob and Leah,
I was saddened to hear of Cherie's passing. I knew her many years ago when she and I worked together. She always brightened everyone's day with her smile and cheerful approach to life. She always had wonderful advice to give about raising kids. You three were her world. She will be greatly missed!

I was a high school classmate of Cherie's. We shared a lot of great times cheering together and hanging out at the beach after graduation. I am truly saddened to have lost one of my peers so early in life. I do, however believe, that your wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, and friend will be with you always. Keep your eyes and hearts open to her presence in your life each day as she will send you little signs that she is there for you. May your memories warm your heart every time you...

Andy,
It was with heavy heart that we heard of Cherie's passing. Our prayers go out to you and the kids. No child should have to lose their Mom at such a young age. I know they were her pride and joy and you were her best friend. Accept our deepest sympathies and know you all are in our thoughts and prayers.

We only saw Cherie a few times,
but have known Andy and the
Blackledge family since 1975. We
were so happy for him when he
married the girl of his dreams. She was outgoing, friendly, bright and truly a "people person."
Jim and I will always remember Cherie, especially on April 13th of each year. For, this is my birthday, and the day she went to be with the Lord.

My heart ached when I read of Cherie's passing. No parent should ever have to feel this pain. My prayers are with you all. Although I have not seen Cherie in so many years, I have often thought of her and Bobby . I loved baby sitting them both so many years ago. And have some of the fondest memories of those days. Cherie and I shared the same birthday, and I always felt such a strong connection to her, thinking of her often. My prayers are with all of her loved ones. Sincere sympathy to...
