Cheryl Aranda

CHERYL (MELENDREZ) ARANDA, 45, oldest daughter of Albert and Dorene Melendrez, passed away peacefully at her home in Diamond Bar, CA on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 7:47 A.M. after a valiant 7 year battle with breast cancer. She is preceded in death by her younger sister, Deborah, who died on May 27, 2008 at the age of 41 from ovarian cancer. She is survived by her parents, a younger brother David, a sister-in-law Amy, a niece Natalie, age 1 ½, a husband Frank Aranda and four children: Michael, age 23, Sara, age 20, Rene, age 18, and Frank Nathan, age 16. She graduated in 1981 from Los Altos High School in Hacienda Heights, CA and in 1987 from California State University Fullerton with a Bachelor's degree in Communications. She most recently worked as an Executive Assistant to the Dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Cal State Fullerton. She loved music and singing and cantored at numerous churches in the area and was a member of several specialty choirs, namely, El Coro de Los Angeles, and the Ninth Life pop band where she was lead vocalist. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 2nd at 11:00 A.M. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 1345 Turnbull Canyon Road, Hacienda Heights, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation in the name of "Cheryl Aranda" to the American Cancer Society or the Virginia K. Crosson Cancer Center, St. Jude Heritage Medical Group, 2151 N. Harbor Blvd., Suite 2200, Fullerton, CA 92835. I won't be far away, for life goes on.
