I

Sadly, memories of my niece, Cheryl, are few since I only saw her about 7-8 times in her life. My sister and family have lived in Tallahassee while the closest I have ever lived to them was about 500 miles. My memories:

1. Cheryl was 6 weeks old and I was 16 the first time I saw her and all I wanted to do was hold her.
2. She was learning animal sounds from her See ‘n Say. "What does the cow say?" "Moo." So precious.
3. She was so excited when my daughter was born on her...

There are so many memories I have of Cheryl that I cannot begin to share just one. My best friend gave me a bracelet "from Cheryl" this Christmas (2011) that says, "Chance made us sisters, hearts made us friends." I cannot express what that sentiment means to me, because it's as if Cheryl herself really did give that precious gift to me. We fought like crazy growing up and it's a wonder Mom didn't bury us both, but we grew to be the best of friends. It never mattered to Cheryl what I did or...

The memory that stands out it my mind is of Cheryl and Donna when they were in their early 20's. Our family was in church Easter Sunday and the offering was about to be taken. The pianist started playing a somewhat silly song, and Cheryl and Donna both immediately thought of the song "Little Bunny Foo Foo" and lost it. They were doing the "bunny fingers" to each other and choking back laughter, so much that their Dad pinched the shoulder of the one closest to him, which only made them want...

Thinking of you Cheryl. Happy Birthday.

Cheryl is loved and missed by friends everywhere. May the joy and laughter she brought us, someday replace the sorrow that fills our hearts. We'll carry her heart in our hearts forever.
