Chester Baker was one of those rare people whose good-natured personality and all around optimism made him unforgettable even more than half a century later. We took algebra together in our freshman year at Bakersfield High, but then became high school (but remained JBA) baseball opponents when he transferred to newly opened Foothill High for his sophomore year.
