Not sure what to say?

The Towne Family. Chet was a class act . He was an educator committed to do what was best for the children he served . I always enjoyed our time together and insight he provided to me . He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh. Education was better having Chet as a team member.. May he rest in peace

Will always remember Bowdoin and Harvard good guy Chet.

Chet and I were students at Bowdoin College and the Harvard University School of Education in the 1950's. While at Harvard, he encouraged me to seek employment at Mrs. Grace Mitchell's day camp in Waltham where I worked under Chet for two summers. I'll always remember his sense of humor, his organizational skills and his leadership ability which when combined made him in my mind an outstanding "boss." Chet recommended that I replace him mid-term as a social studies teacher in a Waltham middle...

Chet made such wonderful contributions to our Northampton schools at a number of important points. As a person he was collegial, professional, and passionate about doing what was best for the children. Please know that we will remember him fondly, and accept my sympathies.

Nancy: so sorry to hear of Chet's passing, I have always had such great memories of the trips to Arizona and up state New York during the summers when we were superintendents together. Chet always made our times together so much fun with his great sense of humor and no lack of opinion on any and all subjects. He will be greatly missed.

Sorry to learn of Chet's passing. It was a distinct pleasure to me to spend time with him at Bowdoin and be in touch with him for so many years. Great memories of great times with a great guy. My deepest sympathies to Nancy and his family.

Please accept our deepest sympathies. We are in Florida otherwise we would be there to express them personally.

I had the pleasure and honor to work with Chet when he served as the Interim Superintendent of Schools in Northampton. In fact, he was the person who drew me back into education after working in human services for several years. He was a thoughtful, caring and brilliant leader and truly cared about children. With that great laugh and bigger than life presence he made a difference in the lives of many children and people. Bless you Chet.
