Not sure what to say?

I was assigned to the Naval Supply Center from 1972 until 1974 as a young LT(jg). Chevis was a truly gifted artist and a wonderful gentleman who made a deep and lasting impression upon me, and upon all who knew him. I think of him often with great fondness and am truly saddened to learn of his passing. RIP, brother.

Carol and Family,
We are sorry for your loss but know that Chevis is with our Lord and Savior...what a wonderful thought! Chevis was the ultimate Southern Gentleman and he was the kind of man you always remember! You are in our prayers.

Carol I am so glad we were there with Uncle Chevis. What a great mam he was. I am also glad my children spent time with him and enjoyed him like I did. I feel like a piece of my heart is missing. I wake up every morning to find his beautiful works on my walls and it is comforting. I just know him and my dad have a lot of catching up to do.

I returned from out of town to learn from Charles Parnell that Chevis had passed. I so wish I could have attended the funeral. Chevis was one of my art "heroes" and he was kind enough to give me a temporary home when I first moved here in 1971. He will live on through his wonderful paintings.

so very sorry to hear about chevis. met him in the past year during art classes at respite care, and his spirit and joy were so wonderful, in his beautiful art and personality. what a wonderful role model for us all.

Chevis,

I'm very sorry for your loss and not knowing it in time to be able to visit you. Randy told me and I looked it up so I could send you this message until I see at the store again. Melanie and I both send you our most sincere condolences and prayers for you and your family.

When I think of true charlestonians-I think of the Clark family. Thoughts and prayers are with you all especially my Deanne.

Dear Carol and Family,

We are so glad we got to know you when we lived in Charleston and see the marvelous paintings that fill your house. I am sure that Chevis will have the joy of painting in his new home among many more pleasures. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
