We lived on the same street in Spanish Fort as the Slay family growing up. They were a great family. All of us here have many fond memories of Mr Slay. Praying for Ms Shirley, Leland and the family. <3 R Schneider

My deepest sympathies on the passing of Mr. Chobee. I remember him as a very caring individual. I am a former neighbor from Gould St.in Whistler, Ala.Lisa and Leland were both very young,as was I.It seems as though all the old Whistler families are getting smaller. I lived across the street and Leland and I use to play together. My thoughts and prayers are with you.May he rest in peace, and perpetual ligth shine upon him. May you find comfort knowing he is in Heaven, but his legacy lives on...

Only Shirley and my family members really know the special bond that existed between Chobee and me. We worked together at the bank, rode floats together, went to Bama football games together in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. My heart stopped a minute when Shirley called to tell me of his falling asleep and I was truly shaken. I'll always remember how excited he was on his first date with Shirley. His memory will live on in my heart and may it be eternal. God rest his soul. Shirley, we love you...
