I took a course from Chong Sook in my first year at the University of Kansas, and became her research assistant for the remainder of her time there. She was outstanding as a teacher, scholar, and especially as a person. I have thought of her often since. Her kindness and compassion as a teacher and mentor were obvious, and very well suited to her eventual career as a counselor. She will be missed by many.

Chong and I were best friends in graduate school at the University of Kansas. She was an absolutely brilliant woman. I could not possibly compete with her cognitive skill, but then, no one could. She was also the sweetest woman I have known. Her passing breaks my heart.
