CHRIS “BUBBA” BATES, a resident of Kenner, LA and a native of Liberty, MS, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at the age of 77. Son of Dorothy Price Bates. Leaving precious memories to his wife Mae L. Bates, children Patsy Sanders (Gregory), Fredda Denis (Mark), Rorreckee A. Bates (Nakia) and Christopher Bates (Lori), sisters Betty Tucker and Gladys Greer, a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Rising Star Baptist Church, 1350 S. Laurel St., Metairie, LA with Visitation 9:00 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. Service, Interment New Zion Cemetery, 5699 Bennett Rd., off Hwy. 5-84 Liberty, MS. I'm at a lost for words this morning. Mrs Bates, my prayers are with you and your family. Ochsner has lost a true Gem with the lost of Mr Bates. I will miss him coming in just to give me a hard time. And I will also miss my hugs from you Mrs Bates. Just know he is in a better place and one day, we will meet again.

Bubba will be greatly missed. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to see him during the 4th of July Holiday. I will never forget his lively personality during the days we all spent together at Eagle Lake after Hurricane Katrina. Bubba had jokes!
