Monarch Society Obituary

Christopher Beasley died on November 19, 2022 at the age of 73.

Chris was born on June 25, 1949, in Los Angeles, California to Audrey Pauline (Petersen) Beasley and Wallace Walter Beasley. Early in his life, the family moved from California to Prairie Village, KS, where Chris and his older brother Steve and younger brother Dan were raised. Chris attended Shawnee Mission East High School. Chris’ father served in the Navy on a submarine and Audrey was a Navy nurse, so after his high school graduation, Chris followed tradition and enlisted in the Navy where he served in Vietnam on river boats.

After serving in Vietnam and upon returning to Kansas, he earned his master's degree in Psychology from Emporia State University, and then worked at The Menninger Clinic as a research assistant for Dr. Roy Menninger. In 1988, Chris met Debra M. Wilde and they were married in 1989. Together they moved to Denver, where Chris attended University of Denver and earned his Doctor of Psychology (Psy-D). Chris was a department director and clinician at Aurora Mental Health Center in Aurora, Colorado for 16 years.  He then opened a private practice which was active until his death.

Chris was the epitome of the saying, 'still waters run deep.'  He was kind, patient, and an excellent listener. His experience, perspective, and personality made him an ideal, dedicated - and most of all compassionate - clinician for his clients. One would be hard pressed to find anyone more honest, principled, or with higher integrity. He was a prolific reader, great cook, a gardener, and woodworker. Many adventures filled his life – from trips to Paris, South Africa, and New Zealand to riding his Harley Davidson. Chris took joy in not just navigating the back roads, but also learning the stories created there.

Chris is survived by his wife of 34 years, Debra Wilde, his older brother Steve (Toni) Beasley, and his son, Scott and Scott's daughter, Tessa; his younger brother Dan (Judy) Beasley and their children, Christopher Fulks, Valerie Fulks, and Brittany (Eric) Wickstrom;his niece, Amy (Mike) Keltner and her children Bryan Babb, Allison Babb, and Emily Pratt; his nephew Michael Wilde and his children Amanda (Jesse) Stiebens and Brandon Wilde.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 30, 2023, 1:00 pm at Washington Park Boathouse  701 S Franklin St, Denver, CO 80209.

Not sure what to say?

Chris-you were a remarkable man. Thank you for everything. I´m so glad I knew you.

Chris was my therapist when I first moved to CO. I was just about to email him about upcoming availability before I learned of this unfortunate news. Chris helped me get through some tough times in early adulthood. The saying that sticks out to me most from meeting with him is "you've thought about this enough". He really helped me put things to rest. He was a thoughtful and considerate man, and I am sure that I am just one of many lives that he's touched. Rest in peace, Dr. Beasley.

Chris and I grew up together in Prairie Village. I´m embarrassed to say I only learned of his death just now. His passing brings back many childhood memories. Our families grew apart after high school. Everyone moving around mostly. We both got our first motorcycles about the same time (Suzukis) and I´m glad to learn he was able to get a Harley. I will miss him he was a good man.

Very sorry for your loss. I knew Chris at SM East.

Rest in peace and thank you for your help Dr. Beasley

Single Tree

I am deeply sadden with the death of Dr. Christopher Beasley. Dr. Beasley was my therapist over the past 5 years and I say with confidence that he helped me more than any of the other doctors and therapist that I have worked with in the last 25 years. He made me identify and deal with the issues that I have avoided over the years. More than any one issue that he helped me with my relationships that I had family members. Over the last 5 weeks I have come out of a troubled time of my life,...

Chris Beasley was a dear person and a wonderful psychologist. He was always very kind to me in graduate school when I was there as a new student, and I have appreciated his support and collaboration throughout the years. He lived an admirable life and helped many, many people along his journey. May he rest in peace and his family's hearts find comfort.
