We all lost a good friend this week. Chris has always been one of the most loyal and kind people I've ever known. I'll always cherish the time we spent together. To his family--my thoughts and prayers are with you. He loved you so much and was very proud of you. He loved telling stories about his family. May you have comfort and peace during this difficult time.

I would like to express my sympathy to Chris's family. I went to school with him and his family at St. Joseph and I got to visit with him for a short time last October at my dad's funeral. I will always remember Chris as being a very happy person.

Chris was an amazing person to be around. Whenever he would lean in to whisper something quiet, I was always laughing and smiling before he said it, becuase I knew if it was coming from him, I would be smiling. He was such an amazing man!!! Glad I knew him. My sympathies to the family.

Dear Mary and Family, we did not have the pleasure of knowing Chris as we have known your daughters. Your entire family have been such welcoming and kind people...not surprising. Was always enjoyable having breakfast with Chris, his mom, and Bob. Was always fun talking about the old neighborhood. He will be missed. My sympathies to the family.

I'm so saddened by Chris's passing. Every time I saw Chris, he was smiling, upbeat and was joyful. May we all be like that with the people we work with. My condolences to all of his family and friends.

Chris always had a smile, was genuinely easy to get along with, and a great practitioner of inclusivity. I hope the family is able to grieve quickly, and have their hearts eased by their happy memories of Chris as son, spouse, father, and grandfather.

... And miles to go before I sleep...
We all think we have more time.
Today.. is how he lived. Even when it wasnt easy. And it often wasnt. Yes, he wanted another mile. So he could tell you he cherished you. That's all the more he wanted today. That cherished look in your eye. That is the only other thing he would have wanted. And he never had to sell his soul, to give it so completely. You know that. You could not have asked for more from him. He already gave you more.
A superb friend to me.. for more than 40 years. Never presumed himself better than anyone. Regarded folks with respect. Thats why you will see so much respect given here and on facelook. Few people I know, gave respect as well as he, and thus received it constantly as well. Kudos to Jack and Mary, for a whole family of wonderful people. They raised their kids right.
But, you cant talk about Chris Burke as a great guy, without his best friend Sharon, and their kids. They have made each other, .. more and more patient, in the face of more and more adversity. Withstood winds that break others. They still, built each other up, and shared that strength with .. amazing children and grandchildren. Multiplied their affection. Time and again.. Withstood challenges that might have broken others. Tears and joy made a life together.. in a wonderful life that it has been a privilege for me, to be a friend of. Truly, I am thankful that Chris Burke called me a friend. And let me share in seeing his family with Sharon grow. His favorite things... will always be his family's hearts. There are SO many people, with SO many good things to say about him. Let them all speak up. We all have another mile in us to do that.
