Not sure what to say?

Chris was a true friend. We attended Tech High in Memphis. After 50 years he located me when I lived in New Jersey. He was responsible more than anyone else for keeping the Tech High Class of 1940 together. We attended many Tech Reunions together. I trust he knew how much we loved him and grateful we were to him.

Your father and grandfather will always be remembered with love and respect by my family. My mother attended high school with him and in recent years enjoyed a renewed friendship with him. She now describes him as her best friend. After getting to know him through the years, we feel it is likely that there are many people in Memphis who would call him their best friend. All of the Taft family was greatly blessed by him and will miss him always.

Dear Joanna, Chris Jr, Jerry, I am so, so sorry about your dad. Mother told me about it tonight. I am sorry I am not able to attend the service. I have moved to Jackson, TN recently. I can't believe I just saw him in May, 2006 when he attended my daughter in law's grandmother's funeral (he went to Tech with Dorothy). Mother should be there at the service if she is able to make it.
He was such a very nice man. Always willing to help everyone out.

Your father and grandfather, Chris Ellis, Sr., was one of my mother's dearest friends. Her name was Dorothy Mason. It was always a pleasure to be in his company! They went to Tech High Reunions and church at St. Mary's together. May God bless you in this enormous loss. Heaven has gained one GREAT soul.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
