Not sure what to say?

Chris Texas wedi ein gadael? I'm shocked to stumble across a library reference giving Chris's dates as 1953-2018. 'Can't be right' I thought. Alas, I soon read that the person I knew as 'Chris Texas' is no longer with us. I was friends with Chris in Aberystwyth between about 1984-1986 when he was first learning Welsh and working on his thesis on the giants of Wales, Cewri Cymru. We must have drunk numerous pints of ale together, but my fondest memory is of playing music with Chris, playing...

On a whim I decided to look up one of my old favorite professors and sadly found this listing.. I took his Welsh classes when they were offered and was lucky to go to Celtic Summer School with him and some of my classmates many years ago. He was always so engaging and funny. He really cared about his students and made learning Welsh a hilarious adventure. Teithio'r athro ffyrdd hud. Diolch am yr amser a dreuliasoch gyda ni.

I had Chris Grooms as a writing professor when I attended Collin College, he inspired me so much to read and write more. We would have many conversations about folklore and mythology and he once leant me a book on Welsh folklore. We also enjoyed talking about pens and his advice to always write with your favorite pen or pencil has stuck with me. He was my favorite professor and made my time at Collin so much more enjoyable, he was a fantastic and brilliant man. I am so sorry to hear about his...

Mr. Grooms was my first Professor at Collin College and he improved my academic career immensely. I am suppose to graduate this semester at the University of North Texas and wanted to reach out to him and say thank you. Sadly I came across this and my heart dropped. He was a great person, with great diction, and a love for his students that could be noticed the very first day. He always wanted the best and I will forever remember the impact he had on my academic and personal career.
Thank...

Chris and I met in church when we were of elementary school age. We were in Boy Scouts, played tennis together, laughed to the records of Bill Cosby (Chris could sound like Fat Albert), and began playing guitars together. Chris also picked up a banjo, strummed it, fiddled with it, and stroked the theme from the Beverly Hillbillies show. We spent so much time together before his family moved to Sherman. I visited up there when I could. He bought a Goya classical guitar so I bought one. ...

Chris left a wonderful legacy: his kindness and generous sharing of knowledge, and his musical gifts. He had such presence - not only his charisma, but his clear awareness of those around him. In high school I got to know him when I started an underground newspaper. With a few other friends, we spent many evenings and weekends talking, playing music, reading Tolkien, and sneaking a little smoke for those illegal smiles. I treasure those memories. We were so proud of you, as you achieved one...

Until we meet again, Sweet Gypsy.
