CHRIS JESSEN

Chris W. Jessen, the third child born to Mathias and Sorina Jessen immigrants from Denmark, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2010, at the age of 87. Chris was born March 16, 1923. He attended Houghton Elementary, Central Union High School and Fresno State College. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific. After the war, Chris became a General Contractor, building many schools and commerical buildings in the Central Valley and retired from the business in 1995. He belonged to the Fresno Builders Exchange, Belmont Golf and Country Club, and SIRS #169. Chris was an avid golfer most of his life and enjoyed most all sports. Chis will always be remembered by his family as a loving and generous person and proud of them all. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Leila; sister, Esther Petersen; brothers, John, Art, Ralph, Don and Richard, all of Fresno; and nephews, Jim and Marty Jessen. Chris is survived by his nephews, Rick and David Jessen and Richard Petersen; nieces, Pat Lawless and Lori Sharp; seven grand-nieces; two grandnephews; and two great-grand nephews. Visitation will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel, on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at Belmont Memorial Park, on Thursday, December 16, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to Nancy Hinds Hospice, 1616 W.
