Not sure what to say?

To the Lay family:
I was deeply saddened to learn that Chris had passed away. We were close friends in high school, and though our paths had not crossed in many years, I have never forgotten Chris and all the great times we had growing up in Sylvania. We learned to rock climb and cross country ski together, and went on many outdoor adventures with friends. Chris was a very special person, who always shared his friendship to the fullest - I will remember his passion, and his love of...

Lay Family,
My heartfelt condolences on the passing of your son, Chris. Although it was a long time ago that we were high school sweethearts, I still remember him fondly. He taught me many things I value today, including his love of nature, hiking, camping and family.
I hope his loving memory helps give you solace during these difficult times.

Dear Lay family - My deepest sympathies regarding the passing of Chris. Chris was a great friend of mine in high school. Chris and a small group of us used to cross country ski at night at local golf courses and really enjoyed our time together. I treasured his friendship and kindred spirit.
