To Linda and Family,
Chris was such a special man and it was always special when you received something from his store. You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

It was such a joy getting to know both Chris and Linda recently. Even with his illness, Chris was still able to keep his sense of humor and "thumbs up" attitude. I have rarely seen such love and devotion by a wife for her husband. May God bless you and your family during this time and always. May it comfort you to know the positive impact that Chris had on so many people.

I had the pleasure of doing business with Chris's uncle in 1946 when his shop was on 5th St. in Eureka. I attended Eureka High 1947 with Ed and his sister Fritzi, very nice friends. So sorry for your loss,
Sincerely, Jean Schafer(Price)

Chris was a man for whom I had great respect. As a child and teenager I would stop in his shop and admire his clocks, etc. I will never forget that he gave every graduate a free place setting when graduating from high school and I still use that pattern which was bought at his store to complete my set.

I am sorry for your loss but you can be very proud of such a special citizen of Ferndale.

To the entire Mathes family--I'm sorry for your loss. Over the years I always enjoyed going into Mathes Jewelers, the 'tick-tock' of the big clock, how Chris was so straightforward and proper, yet comical. A very pleasant man with a strong work ethic and integrity. My thoughts and prayers are with you and may your family memories sustain each of you!

Linda and Family,
We are sorry for your loss. Chris was a great man.We will be out of town during his service but our thoughts and prayers are with you.
