Chris Mowrey

Was at the Laurel Tavern the other night having a beer with another friend of Chris´. His name is Stuart, and he, Chris and another guy, Steve and I all shared a house tighter together. We had a sweet reminiscent.

Summertime in Madison with Chris was some of the most fun i had. Still think of him at times, as i pass the Nitty Gritty or hang out on the Memorial Union Terrace. Places we laughed and played!!

Chris was a real one-of-kind person, unique, who forged a diverse and interesting life out of the hand dealt him. I feel fortunate to have been part of his life, and to know him and appreciate the cool, fun, resourceful, talented person he was. I am happy to know he finally found his forever family and love with Sue, who was there with him and for him to the end.

Chris was real. He had flaws. He didnt hide them. He had a huge heart. He was a true friend and brother. I loved him, and being with him. I think of and miss him often.

I remember Chris had a talking part in the movie WOODSTOCK. He was a promoter at the Factory for Jimmy Hendix, as well as Ottis Redding.

Chris is never far from my thoughts. Ever since I first met him in Madison. Hearing a song that played often in one of the pubs can bring a tear of joy and sadness for the past. We had so much fun with his brother Mike during the few years i was in Madison. He could be a spark of joy in the midst of a dark cold gray Madison winter. Smiles laughter. He was a live wire, living life to its fullest. I hope he and Mike are enjoying laughter listening to Mountain playing Theme from an Imaginary...

With such sadness in my heart I read of the passing of Chris. Lately, I've thought of him often and remembering our time together in Madison. Eating right out of the pot in his kitchen at Cajun way, cruising around in the convertible, solving the worlds problems at night, but forgetting the answers by morning. Having him call and say he needed a place to crash for the night and 6 months later..he was still there, because well he was Chris. He was truly one of a kind and my life was a little...

I haven't seen Chris for many years but I remember so well his joy of life and warm and friendly personality. We were all friends years and years ago, my two older sisters and the Mowery boys, Chris and Mike. A few months back Woodstock was being shown on TV. I thought I'd turn it on and watch it at least until i saw Chris's film debut. I turned it on and a few minutes later there he was in all his youthful splendor. It's how I will always remember him.
