Chris J. Slabaugh Sr.

Chris J. Slabaugh Sr., age 83, of Nappanee, died at 9:10 am, Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Bremen Community Hospital, where he been a patient for 5 days.  He was born November 23, 1939 in Nappanee to Joseph T. and Lillie (Troyer) Slabaugh.  On December 23, 1960, he married Alma A. Hochstetler in Nappanee.  She survives along with their children, Chris (Mary) Slabaugh Jr., Lloyd (Katie) Slabaugh, James (Ruth) Slabaugh, David (Vonda) Slabaugh, Diane (Harley) Yoder, all of Nappanee, Regina (Ernest) Miller, Bremen; 36 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; brother, Lester (Ann) Slabaugh, North Port, FL; sister, Sylvia (Junior) Miller, Dunnigan, MO; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Slabaugh, Nappanee.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tobias Slabaugh; and sisters, Edna Schwartz, Wilma Eash, and Ida Miller.

Mr. Slabaugh was a farmer and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Family and friends may call after 2 Monday, August 21, 2023 and all day Tuesday, August 22nd at the Leon Bontrager residence, 111 2 B Rd, Nappanee.  Funeral services will be at 9:30 am, Wednesday, August 23rd at the Bontrager residence.  Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate and burial will be in Weldy Cemetery.
