I met Christian in Southern California, through a couple of his fellow special forces Marines who were also my friends. He had already left the corps, and our friends were on the verge of doing the same; the air seemed full of possibilities. At the time he was living in San Francisco, my native city, and I could tell after talking with him even briefly that he loved the place. But he loved New York more, and to New York he returned. I didn't learn that he had perished for over a year...

Christian, Although there are other days as well I do always remember you on this day. Our Platoon had a great deployment in 1997 and you were a big part of that.

To A Hero, You may not know that I wore your baby clothes as a baby. Your Mother knew my Mom Dorothy Presedo. I really do not know how they knew each other but they did and this is how im linked to you. I have mentioned your name to my family each year . To my wife, my daughter and to my son. I never miss the 9/11 ceremony in the Bronx done by the Borough President so that I may honor Christian´s memory! We lost quite an amazing man that had much to offer in the world! You will always be in the hearts of those that knew you & never forgotten!!!

I never knew Christian, but I attended his funeral mass at St. Patrick’s Carherdral in lieu of the many firefighters who couldn’t attend services because they were working at Ground Zero. The words of his family and friends have stayed with me all these years, and I honor Christian’s memory every year.
