Christine Billies

Chris was my debate partner throughout high school, 1948-51, as competitive speaking then was highly structured. We competed with other Wisconsin schools and traveled throughout the state on weekends with others from our school, winning medals at the state level two years in a row. She was a great friend and debater. I wish I'd known her as an adult. We did renew our friendship at two reunions.

Can I edit a memory that I just submitted a few minutes ago? Chris and I were in high school together during the years 1948-51 (I erroneously entered my college years.) I would also like to add that Chris and I went through all the grades, K-12, together--at Lincoln Grade School, then John Dewey Junior HS, then West Allis Central HS.

I have just learned--so belatedly--of Chris' passing and wish to convey my condolences to her family. Chris was my classmate, friend, and debate partner at West Allis Central High School, 1953-56, and we were in periodic touch over the many years since via Email (in fact I learned of her death because I didn't get an answer to a recent Email of mine.) She often wrote glowingly of her children and grandchildren. We met at two HS reunions (and at the first one I met her husband Robert as well.)...

What a life, she had so much to teach and offer- and yet was so humble. I’ll never forget how kind and patient she was with me at GET, even on days when I didn’t deserve it. She had a positive impact on my life that lives on. Much love to Christine’s family and close network of friends.
