Adams & Swanson Funeral Home - North Platte Obituary

Christine Louise Schriner, age 72, of North Platte, died March 11, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.  Christine was born on February 2, 1950 in North Platte, Nebraska to William J and Geraldine (Staples) Gilbert, the fourth child of nine. She graduated from North Platte High School in 1968 and continued on to Mid-Plains to complete an associate degree in computer programming.

After moving to Hastings, Nebraska for a short time, she met Dale Robert Schriner. They were married and added a daughter to their family. They spent time in Omaha, Nebraska before returning to North Platte to settle and spend the rest of their lives together.  Christine was a member, employee and volunteer for the Salvation Army in North Platte where she directed youth programs and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flower beds.  Her family was the center of her life and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her daughters:  MenDi (Richie) McCuiston of North Platte, bonus daughter: Patricia Smith  of Bellevue; her special child, Kim Kuhlman of North Platte; grandchildren:  Alexa Hamilton, Kristen Burns, Maximus Brunswick, Shevie McCuiston, Deakon McCuiston, all of North Platte, Travis Smith of Florida, Heather (Jake) Smith-Grosvenor of  Bellevue, and Stacy Smith of Bellevue;  great-grandchildren:  Cash, Joseph, Oliver, Bentlee, Nevaeh, and Elliott; brothers:  Dennis (Sharon) Gilbert of Texas, Dave (Jeanie) Gilbert, Tom (Becky) Gilbert, all from North Platte; sisters:  Margaret Kaczmarek of Omaha, Char (Perry) Nicholas of Hershey, Wilma Tackett, and  Shir (Randy) Smith, all of North Platte; and numerous nieces and nephews, too many to count.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Jonathon, her husband Dale, and numerous aunts and uncles. A memorial has been established in her memory and online condolences can be made at www.adamsswanson.

Services will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday march 15, 2022 at the Salvation Army Church in North Platte with the Majors Harold and Lynneta Poff officiating.  Burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday from 12-7, with the family receiving friends from 5-7.  Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Not sure what to say?

Chris had a quiet gentle spirit. Never heard her raise her voice. Suspect Mindy did every now and then as a teen. Deep abiding faith that never seemed to waver. Great support for us as her officers. Blessed our congregation with her Godly gift of music.

Sincere sympathy.
Thoughts and prayer are with you.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Chris was an ever-present representation of Jesus to the world. She has been Promoted to Glory. Well done good and faithful servant.

Chris was a lovely individual. Her friendly smile was genuine.

Single Memorial Tree

I am sorry for your loss. Enjoyed her in Bible study. She was able to help me with questions I had.

We are so thankful for the loving and caring friend that we had in Chris. Her welcoming spirit meant so much to us when we came to North Platte. No doubt she is already making beautiful music in heaven!!! Our prayers will continue for her family during this time of loss.

My prayers to her family and the Salvation Army Family. She will be missed.

What a special Christian lady! I have been a Salvation Army Officer, pastor and administrator for over 48 years and Chris stands out as a kind, gentle, caring person fully exhibiting the life and Spirit of Jesus. She leaves a deep hole in the hearts of those privileged to know her.....that hole will be filled by all the fond memories she left behind to cherish. To her family and friends I simply say... hold on to the good memories and draw closer to those you love realizing how important...
