Taylor Funeral Home - Spencer Obituary

Christine Starcher, 89, of Spencer, died Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Elizabeth Care Center, Elizabeth.


She was born April 16, 1936, at Arnoldsburg, the daughter of the late Fred and Tressie Crawford Church, Sr.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Starcher; son James F. “Jimmy” Starcher; brother, Fred Church, Jr.; infant brother, Bernard Eugene Church; sister, Ernestine Starcher; nephew, Charles Mace; niece, Janet Starcher.


Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, David and Dee Dee Starcher of Millstone and Roger and Brenda Starcher of Spencer; four grandchildren, Cody (Madison) Starcher, Kristyn Starcher, Brittany (Joel) Parsons and Kayla (David) Bain; four great grandchildren, Case Starcher, Camry Parsons, Chase Parsons and Charlotte Bain; sister, Karen (Robert) Epler of Reedy; brother, Victor (Linda) Church of Newton Falls, Ohio; sister-in-law, Yvonne Church of Minnora; nieces and nephews, Jackie Garrett, Gerald Starcher, Donna Reip, Jeffrey Church, Judy Metz, Darren Church, Dean Church, Gary Church, Shirley Gainer, Emma Walker and Eva Chapman.


Christine was a loving wife and mother, who devoted over 63 years of her life to caring for her son, Jimmy. During this time, she was also a 13-year employee of Rubber Fabricators in Grantsville and a two-year employee of the Spencer Hospital. She was a member of the Seventh Day Advent Christian Church in Spencer. 


Her pastimes included attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and dance recitals, walks and drives through the country. She was an avid reader and expert domino player. She will be remembered by many for her good sense of humor.


A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 14 at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Caleb George officiating. Burial will be in Starcher Cemetery, Arnoldsburg.


Visitation will be two hours prior to the service.
