Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home & Crematory - Ardmore Obituary

Christopher Franklin Ashworth - was born June 23, 1972, in Brownwood, Texas to the late Reverend Morgan D. Ashworth and Dorthy M. Ashworth, and left for his eternal home on 15 February 15, 2022.

Chris graduated from Lone Grove High School in 1990 and worked as a plumber for Vernon's Plumbing.  During his high school years, Chris developed a lifetime love affair with fishing.  Had it not been for his deep desire to skip classes so frequently, he may never have attained that level of expertise in fishing which served him well through life.  Chris was an avid football fan at every level of the game and often attended Lone Grove High football games with his father and Oklahoma State University games with his brother.  Wow, if you ever attended a football game with Chris; smoking cigarettes, drinking whisky, and screaming at the refs pretty much summed it up, it was always a great time.  Chris was best friends with his father Morgan Sr, while opposites, they built a lasting friendship.   As a family, we never let those two be on a team together when playing board games or cards; sore winners and cheating always comes to mind.  Our family sees Chris peacefully in Heaven now with his father, each bragging like a contest just how little each saw a doctor while alive, sought proper medical care, or were remotely concerned about blood pressure numbers as if it were all a contest.  Like his late sister Tammy, Chris’ true kindness and nurturing spirit was always evident when watching him interact with his beloved dogs (Hoss & Brownie), he always reminded us they were his children.  If we could write one word to describe Chris’ entire life would be Friend.  Chris never needed to be the center of anything and lived his whole life serving others.  Chris had too many friends to mention, and everyone of them would tell you that Chris would give the shirt off his back to help his friends and their families.  Chris Ashworth, a son, a brother, an uncle to a few and a friend to many; has made each one of us a better person and taught us all the true meaning of family.

Chris was preceded in death by his Father Morgan Dean Ashworth Sr and by his sister Tammy Rucker.  Chris is survived by his mother, Dorthy Ashworth, his brother, Morgan Jr and his wife, Ali. Chris had seven nieces and nephews: Christopher, Shiloh, Deacon, Connor, Morgan, Logan, and Gretchen; and four great nephews and niece: Tayton, Malachi, Lily, and Dean.  Chris will be missed beyond words and his memory will be cherished by his many friends and family always.

A time of visitation and support for family and friends will be Thursday, 24 Feb 2022 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home, please come and share this time together.

A Gathering of Remembrance will be held for Christopher Franklin Ashworth, 49, on Friday, February 25 at 11:00 a.m. in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.

Not sure what to say?

I loved my brother dearly, and will miss him. He was such a great source of laughter and great times. Learning to live without him for the rest of this life will be a difficult task ahead of us all.

What a character my cousin was. Just this last Thanksgiving I had a good laugh watching him load up a plate full of every pie we had. There's shame in wasting a good pie. I'll always remember that much like my Uncle Morgan, Chris carried an infectious happiness into the room with him. Always good for a joke or a funny story. We will miss him tremendously.

I love you always and I know you are in a better place and I wish I would have been able to say so many things

My condolences to you Dorthy on the loss of your son.

Praying for peace and hope for our family.

Dorthy,

We were so grieved and heartbroken to hear about Chris’s untimely passing. Please be assured that you and the rest of your family are in our thoughts and prayers throughout the coming days. If you need ANYTHING, please call us, we’re in the phone book! We love y’all!

Love,

Henry and Lana Burton
