I never met Dr Bernards personally, but I heard on of his lecutures at American Pain Society regarding his work in CSF PK/PD. ..I hung on his every word. He made outstanding contributions to the field of medicine. I hope others carry forward his legacy and his work....My prayers are with you in this time of grieving.

To the best mentor I have ever had. I didn't fully appreciate what I learned from Dr. Bernards until starting a career in academic anesthesia. I think of him often as I am trying to get my own feet under me, and I smile when, at the end of the day, I realize I've loaded my residents down with several evidence-based papers to keep them honest as they struggle to sift the grains of facts from the chaff of dogma. I was so saddened to read about Chris' death! I knew him in highschool and have fond memories. May his entire family get strength and support from those who held Chris close to their hearts. My sincere condolences!!


Wish I could have been at his service today, to pay my respects and honor a man that taught me so much. We all got to know his prickly side, but I am glad that I knew him long enough to know what a kind, generous, and thoughtful man he was.
