CHRISTOPHER C. BURNETT, JR. Christopher C. Burnett, Jr. age 78 of Fayetteville, Ga. passed away April 29, 2007. Mr. Burnett was a faithful Christian, a dedicated husband and father and a highly respected business and civic leader. Known in his youth as "Creampuff Chris", he began his early career as an automobile dealer. In the late 1960's he was an organizing director of the Clayton County Bank in Riverdale, Ga., and later served as its President and CEO until its merger with National Bank of Georgia in 1983. With NBG, he served as Sr. Vice President for Government Affairs. In 1988 he became the founding President and CEO of Peachstate Bank in Clayton County, which is now part of Peachtree National Bank. Since the mid 1990's he has enjoyed retirement with his family. Chris Burnett was born in Atlanta on December 7, 1928 and grew up in East Point, Ga., and was a 1946 graduate of Russell High School. He attended the John Marshall Law School and the Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a licensed pilot. Mr. Burnett was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hapeville where he served as a deacon, a member of the Finance Committee and a youth Sunday school teacher and he was a past member of the Airport Area Kiwanis Club, Georgia Bankers Association and the Clayton Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Burnett is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nan Hill Burnett of Fayetteville; daughter Lesa Burnett of Fayetteville; son and daughter-in-law Chris and Karen Burnett of Sandy Springs, Ga., and his two grandchildren Christopher and Greyson Burnett. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 1 P.M. with the body to lie in state from noon until the time of service at the First Baptist Church of Hapeville. Dr. Bill Lacey will officiate. Family and friends to meet at 4 P.M. at Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville for entombment. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 1, 2007 between 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home in Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations in Chris Burnett's honor be made to the Southwest Christian Hospice, 7225 Lester Rd., Union City, Ga. 30291. Carl J.
