Christopher N. "Dropp" Droppleman passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was born in Sistersville, WV on January 16, 1948, to the late Raymond A. and Margaret Gorman Droppleman. Chris is Roman Catholic by faith. When Chris was ten he and his family moved to Fairmont where he attended St. Peter's School and public schools having graduated from Fairmont Senior High in 1966. Following graduation he attended Fishburne Military Academy and Salem University. From 1969 to 1972 he worked at the PGA National Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida and Oak Park Country Club in Chicago, Illinois. On December 21, 1972, he married Debbie Henderson, his high school sweetheart, and they just celebrated their 44th anniversary. Chris was involved in his in-laws' family businesses including Supreme Amusement Company and Universal Closures. In 1996 he and his son Gunner purchased and operated Dropp's Pub in Westover where he enjoyed welcoming neighborhood folks and establishing lifelong friendships. They also owned and operated The Derby in Fairmont from 1998-2000. As a child and teen athlete he played baseball, basketball, and tennis, but as an adult golf became his passion. He loved his golf outings with friends and enjoyed sharing stories of his experiences at the PGA. He also enjoyed supporting his son and his grandchildren in their various endeavors and activities. Dropp is survived by his wife Debbie; son and daughter-in-law Gunner and Jennifer Droppleman of Fairmont; grandchildren Garrett Droppleman, Jocelyn Droppleman and Cameron Lawson of Fairmont; sister Terry Anne McKiernan and husband Tom of Stamford CT; J. Pat Droppleman and wife Denise of Chicago Il; and a niece and six nephews. Friends and family will be received from 1-8pm on Monday, January 2nd at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home at 209 Merchant Street in Fairmont. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00am at the funeral home with Deacon David Lester officiating. Interment will follow at the Grandview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Robes for Recovery, c/o Fairmont Federal Credit Union at P.O. Box 2139, Fairmont WV 26555-2139 or at any Fairmont FCU office.
