I have mixed emotions seeing this invitation to add memories. Just seeing his kind face here reminds me of how gracious he was in music and life in general. We used to joke about goofy nicknames friends wound up with and laugh and laugh then get to the next set. But
I continue to feel so badly for the Giles family and all of us who loved him. See you sooner than later Chris. Then we'll REALLY laugh!

I was so sad to hear of Chris' passing. We talked by phone often for quite a while. He considered himself my musical big brother. And he was. We played gigs together in Chicago. We'd talked about our fav subject- music, he offered advice and insight, we talked about the inner workings of being in a band, and a myriad of other topics--- sometimes serioius, sometimes light and funny. I'll miss him. Summer Kwai, singer, Chicago

I was fortunate enough to play with Chris in 73-74 as we swang our way into the world of jazz with The Steve Lewis Trio. Playing with Chris changed me forever - he has a great soul and will always be a part of me.

I first met Chris at Rusty's and enjoyed his playing and remarkable personality. He will always be remembered for his incredible musicianship and ability to light up a room with his smile. I loved singing with him and pray that his gentle spirit lives on to join his loved ones and friends in the heavenly Jam Sessions.

This is very sad news. Chris and a couple of others rented a house in Maumee from our family in the 70's and 80's. I always enjoyed talking music with Chris as I became a part-time performer back in those days. He was one of the best bass players in the area. He was a caring, gentle soul who attended my father's funeral in 1989 and offered comfort to our family when I last saw him. Chris will be missed.

Chris-such a gentle and kind soul, whom Iv'e spent countless music filled hours with, road trips to Frisch's and many laughs in between. Your gracious bass notes continue. Onward and Upwards my friend~ You will be missed!
