Christopher Jon Hammer, 34 of Esko, passed away unexpectedly as the result of a car accident on Wednesday, July 30, 2008. He was born in Duluth on Jan. 28, 1974 to David and Sara (Quaife) Hammer. Chris graduated from Marshall High School in 1992 and received his undergraduate from St. John's University. He later received his M.B.A from St. Thomas University. On July 14, 2001 he married his best friend, Tiffanee Frantz. Chris began his career as an Accountant with McGladrey and Pullen LLP. For the past eight years, he has been employed with Kolar Chevrolet of Cloquet, as their Sales Manager. Chris was a past president of the Cloquet Rotary, active in the Cloquet Chamber of Commerce and the Lake Superior Masonic Lodge 349. He loved snowmobile racing, and competed on the WSA Snow-cross Circuit with his brother, Peter. Chris was also a dedicated Vikings fan. Christopher will always be remembered for his ability to show unconditional love and devotion toward his wife, son, and family. Chris is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Maurice Quaife; and paternal grandparents, Christian and Ida Hammer. Survivors include his wife, Tiffanee and son, Grant Christian; parents, David and Sara Hammer; brother, Peter Hammer; maternal grandmother, Martha Quaife of Grand Marais; mother-in-law, Candace Frantz; two brothers-in-law, Brandon Frantz and Chad (Heidi) Frantz; sister-in-law, Tara Roberts; eight nieces and nephews whom he adored; numerous aunts and uncles; and many friends. VISITATION:10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service Monday, Aug. 4, 2008 in French River Lutheran Church. Rev. Greg Garmer officiating. Memorials are preferred to the Grant Hammer Fund. My Dear Hammer Family,
It is with grief and sorrow I heard about the loss of our dear friend Chris. All the memories of our watercraft and snowmobiling racing days,together, are imprinted on my heart forever. He is somone my family will always love, and never forget. I know that Tiff and their new son and the whole family, will get throught this, because of the way they were made, and their love.
